KS2 ONLINE SAFETY & DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP VOCABULARY​
Basic Vocabulary
Digital Citizenship – Being a good and safe person when using the internet.
Online Safety – Staying safe while using the internet.
Privacy – Keeping your personal information a secret.
Cyberbullying – Being mean to someone using a computer or phone.
Personal Information – Details about you, like your name, where you live, or your phone number.
Inappropriate Content – Things on the internet that are not okay for kids to see or hear.
Digital Footprint – The trace you leave on the internet when you use it.
Reporting – Telling someone (like a parent or teacher) about something bad you see online.
Intermediate Vocabulary
Online Risk – Dangers you might face when using the internet.
Secure Password – A strong word or phrase you use to keep your online accounts safe.
Safety Settings – Tools that help you protect your personal information online.
Phishing – When someone tries to trick you into giving them your personal information online.
Credible Source – A place online where you can find true and trustworthy information.
Fact-Checking – Making sure information is true and correct.
Respectful Communication – Being kind and polite when you talk to others online.
Oversharing – Telling or showing too much personal information on the internet.
Screen Time – The time you spend looking at screens, like computers, tablets, or phones.
Digital Literacy – Knowing how to find and use information on the internet safely.
Advanced Vocabulary
Digital Reputation – How people see you because of what you do online.
Account Security – Ways to keep your online accounts safe from others.
Two-Factor Authentication – A way to make your online accounts even safer by needing a second step, like a code sent to your phone.
Digital Identity – The way you are seen online through what you share and do.
Content Sharing – Showing your pictures, videos, or stories with other people online.
Copyright – A rule that says people own their creations, like stories, music, and art.
Fair Use – A rule that lets you use a little bit of someone else's work without asking, for things like school projects.
Online Etiquette – The good manners you should use when talking to people online.
