KS2 WORD PROCESSING   VOCABULARY​

Basic Vocabulary

Template – A pre-made design you can use to start your document or mind map.
Font – The style of the letters you use to write (e.g., how it looks).
Colour – The color of your text, background, or other elements.
Image – A picture that you can add to your document or mind map.
Text box – A box where you can type and control where the text goes on the page.
Page – A single sheet of your document or mind map.
Title – The name of your document or mind map.
Save – To keep your work in a file so you can come back to it later.
Mind Map – A diagram that shows how ideas are connected.
Branch – A line that connects one idea to another in a mind map.
Node – A point where an idea is placed in a mind map.
Keyword – A word that represents an important idea.
Connection – A line that links two ideas in a mind map.

Intermediate Vocabulary 

Format – How the text looks, like size, color, or style.
Layout – The way your text and images are arranged on the page.
Design – The overall style of your document or mind map, including how it looks and is organized.
Publish – To share or save your document or mind map for others to see.
Edit – To change or fix something in your document or mind map.
Align – To make text, images, or elements line up in a certain way.
List – A collection of items arranged in a specific order.
Insert – To add something new to your document or mind map, like an image or text.
Copy – To make a copy of something in your document or mind map.
Paste – To put the copied text, image, or idea in another part of your document or mind map.
Organize – To arrange ideas or information in a clear and logical way.
Visual – A picture or graphic that helps explain an idea or concept.
Collaborate – To work together with others on a project or task.
Present – To show or explain your ideas or work to others.

Advanced Vocabulary 

Bold – Making the text darker and thicker to make it stand out.
Italic – Slanting the text to make it look different from normal text.
Underline – Adding a line under the text to highlight it.
Margin – The empty space around the edges of the page.
Shape – A figure like a circle, square, or triangle you can add to your document or mind map.
Table – A grid with rows and columns where you can organize information.
Print – To make a paper copy of your document or mind map.
Format – The overall look and setup of your document or mind map, including the text and images.
Image – A picture or graphic you can place in your document or mind map.
Text Box – A separate area where you can add and arrange text.
Align – To arrange text or images in a straight line or in a particular pattern on the page.
Export – To save or send your work in a specific file format.
Publish – To share or present your finished document or mind map to others.
