2Count on Purple Mash

1.With the children, discuss different forms of transport.

2. Collate these on the whiteboard. Alternatively, you could create a concept map in 2Connect for the pictogram you want to do.

There are lots of clipart to use.

3. For example, discuss with the children when they may use these different forms of transport, e.g. aeroplane for holidays, walking to go to the park, car to visit family etc.

4. How do children travel to school? Discuss with the children how we could record the answers, e.g., the children could put their hands up and we could count. Explain that a pictogram is another way to do this.

5.- Using 2Count, create a pictogram with the info. Include a title that explains what the pictogram shows.

6.- Interrogate the data – Which was the most popular method? Which was the least popular?.

MORE IDEAS:

How about try now with most popular fruit in the class? Print the pictogram and display in the classroom.

How about children can collecting data from rolling a die 20 times and recording the results, then should represent the results as a pictogram.
