LEARN SPANISH WITH NOAH AND FRIENDS
Oh Noah!, (formerly known as Noah Comprende) is designed to teach Spanish to children. In each video, a misunderstanding launches a comic misadventure. Kids learn language better when they can put it into meaningful context. Although—like Noah—they may not understand all the Spanish dialogue, kids can comprehend the story told through rich visual storytelling, much like a silent movie. The PBS digital series Oh Noah! is a production of THIRTEEN for WNET.

WE WATCH SHOWS AND MOVIES IN SPANISH
At TPA we try to get our students exposed to the second language they’re learning. There are countless benefits and reasons why our students should start watching movies to learn foreign languages, mainly to develop their listening and comprehension skills, but they also get to hear how people really talk in a real world scenario and they get to hear how words are really pronounced. And they really love it!!!
BOARD GAMES TO SUPPORT LANGUAGE LEARNING
Board games are a great learning tool used to support the learning of Spanish. Games allow children to take an active role in their learning, whilst gaining confidence in an engaging way. As well as giving children a chance to take ownership of their learning they also allow the teacher opportunities to observe the children’s language development. At The Premier Academy the Spanish teachers use a variety of board games such as Pictureka, BattleShip, Who’s Who, La Oca (Spanish version of Snakes and Ladders), Twister, Scrabble, Bingo and Kloo.
Kloo cards have won a host of awards including the prestigious ‘ToyTalk Best Board and Card Game of the Year’. This learning tool is currently used in Year 5 and 6. Children are able to access the Kloo website for free and print off the cards to use at home. http://www.kloogame.com/

Bilingual dictionaries are extremely useful for MFL learners, because using dictionaries will enhance their bilingual competency. This is an important skill that they need to develop and which requires guidance and practice.Bilingual dictionaries and translation software are essential language learning tools, if used properly, and it is worth devoting time and energy to ensuring that learners are supported to build up their skills in using bilingual dictionaries and translation software as learning tools. Spanish Christmas at TPA
It´s Christmas time at The Premier Academy and our students are learning about Christmas in Spain, El gordo, Los Reyes Magos y Las 12 uvas are some of these Christmas traditions.
"El gordo", the Fat One is Spain´s annual Christmas lottery, also known as El Gordo (The Fat One) because of the amount of money which is distributed in prizes as opposed to being kept by the Spanish state.
Christmas may have come and gone, but many kids here in Spain are still eagerly awaiting their presents. That’s because it is not Santa Claus who brings them gifts on Christmas Day. The tradition in Spain is that "Los Reyes Magos", known as The Three Wise Men or The Three Kings, bring Spanish children their gift on January 6th.
New Year´s Eve and the twelve grapes. "Las 12 uvas de Nochevieja". It sounds simple: Eat 12 grapes in 12 seconds. The timing is crucial and needs to coincide with the final 12 seconds of the year. It´s important to be near a clock tower or some other chiming device that will offer you the precise time you need in order to "count down" and properly follow the requirements of this particular tradition.
Feliz Navidad y Feliz Año Nuevo. Happy Christmas and Happy New Year.

EL JUEGO DE LA OCA - THE GOOSE GAME
Children in KS2 are learning with this popular Spanish board game. The board consists of a track with consecutively numbered spaces (63). Each player's piece is moved according to the throw of one dice. Scattered throughout the board are a number of spaces on which a goose is depicted; landing on a goose allows the player to move again by the same number rolled. Additional shortcuts, such as spaces marked with a bridge further the player´s position. There are also a few penalty spaces which force the player to move backwards or lose a turn. The most recognizable being the one marked with a skull which symbolises death, landing on this space results in the player being sent back to start. After rolling the dice and moving spaces each player must answer a question in Spanish, if answered incorrectly the player must return to their original position.
They can also play on line here --> http://www.dilealsol.es/1OCA/oca1024.swf
